Sinopse

When a young girl named Alice follows a white rabbit down a hole, she finds herself in a world where nothing behaves as it should. She grows and shrinks by eating cakes and drinking potions, attends a mad tea party with a Hatter and a March Hare, and plays croquet with a Queen who orders beheadings at the slightest offense. Along the way she meets a grinning Cheshire Cat, a hookah-smoking Caterpillar, and a Mock Turtle who weeps while telling his story. The novel follows Alice’s attempts to make sense of this strange place, where logic is turned upside down and every creature has its own peculiar rules. Published in 1865, this book marked a turning point in children’s literature. Before Carroll, most stories for young readers were meant to teach moral lessons. Alice offered something different: pure delight in imagination, wordplay, and absurdity. The author, a mathematician and logician, filled the story with puzzles and parodies that reward careful reading, while the nonsense verse and clever dialogue have become part of our cultural vocabulary. John Tenniel’s original illustrations perfectly capture the dreamlike quality of Wonderland. Today, Alice remains essential reading because it celebrates curiosity and the joy of questioning authority. Its playful treatment of language and logic continues to inspire writers, artists, and thinkers. The story invites readers of all ages to embrace the strange and the unexpected, reminding us that sometimes the most important adventures begin with a simple act of following something curious.
